CHOP YOUR OWN WOOD
Through community service organizations, Kooch-i-ching men and boys have created the fields, the courts, the buildings. They have hauled the sand and sewn the seeds; they have converted wood, stone and glass into structures large and small. A great sense of pride lives in the heart of the camper who knows he did his fair share of the work. At the end of the summer, he can walk away from Deer Island and say "I helped build that."
